It’s Going To Be A Long Month | Nanowrimo + Reading Update!

So I think I mentioned this in a previous blog post, but I’ve decided to do Nanowrimo this year! Nanowrimo stands for National Novel Writing Month, and it takes place every November. You can find out more about it by visiting the website here!

I’m very surprised to say it’s actually going really well for me this year…or at least it was, until I sort of changed my story idea completely and am now having a slight breakdown over how to fix the mess I have created.

But on a positive note, I’m just slightly ahead of my word goal, so yay! I just sort of need to rewrite is all so it actually fits with the new plot, but I’m staying positive – I haven’t felt so inspired to write in a long time, so I’m just going to go with it and see what I end up with at the end of the month!

Are you participating in Nanowrimo this month? Have you joined in during previous years?

I’m really happy to say that I’ve nearly complete my Goodreads goal for the year! I’ve read twenty-nine books so far, and I’m just starting the thirtieth.

Here’s what I’ve recently finished reading:

Turtles All the Way Down

Turtles All the Way Down by John Green

This book was absolutely wonderful! I loved it so much, I’m sort of struggling to find the words to talk about its magnificence at the moment. I do have a review coming soon, I’m just a bit busy at the moment thanks to Nanowrimo and college work haha!

Shadow and Bone (The Grisha, #1)

Shadow and Bone (The Grisha #1) by Leigh Bardugo

I just finished rereading this book today, and I really enjoyed it! I reread it so I could finish the rest of the series (due to recently discovering I have way too many unfinished series going on), and I’m so glad I did. Leigh Bardugo is such a clever author, and I once again was awed by the way she weaved the world of the Grisha!

I’m currently reading…

Siege and Storm (The Grisha, #2)

Siege and Storm (The Grisha #2) by Leigh Bardugo

I started this book today after finishing the first novel, and I’m looking forward to reading it! I’m intrigued by what could happen (and by intrigued I definitely mean I’m sitting on the edge of my seat in suspense). I hope it lives up to the high standards the first book set!

What are you currently reading?

It’s About Nanowrimo, Guys

Any of you guys who read my last post will know I mentioned posting something to do with why I dislike it when too much hype surrounds a book, but I’m going to save it for another day, because of two reasons:

  1. I’m struggling to put into words what I feel about that matter
  2. I have something I need help with – like, pronto, ASAP.

It’s about Nanowrimo guys.

I’m really struggling to find the motivation to write. I think the problem lies with what my story is about, and where I’ve left it off. But the thought of carrying on writing – there’s nothing in me that wants to. And it really saddens me, because I was so excited to participate in Nanowrimo, but that seems to have waned off.

I can’t even find it in me to think about something else to write about. And it’s really bugging me.

My question to you guys is: when you have writers block, or hate the direction your story is going in, what do you do?

I’m going to go and try to brainstorm ideas!

Read/Write On! ✗

But maybe showers remind me, of psycho too much!

Hope you guys have a great Halloween, and eat so much candy you’re in a chocolate haze for the next couple of days!! I was supposed to be going to a party (I was going as a pumpkin) but it got cancelled, unfortunately. So my day is now dedicated to the World Cup Final (New Zealand all the way!) and doing an outline for Nanowrimo (which is not going well).

On a super happy note: I’m currently reading The Wrath and The Dawn by Renee Ahdieh and it is so good! She is such a talented author; her writing is so captivating! I’ll do a review as soon as I’ve finished, and I might even post a snippet if you guys want!

Get your spook on!! ✗

People say I’m crazy, just a little touch…

If you guys know where the title of this post comes from, I’m so glad you’re here! (I think it sort of fits, considering it’s Halloween tomorrow!)

But anyway, to the point of this post!

You may or may not have noticed I have another badge on the side of my blog, along with NaBloPoMo. And that badge is a Nanowrimo badge.

Yeah, the title of this post might be starting to make sense to you now. Not only have I decided to do National Blog Posting Month, I’ve also decided to do National Novel Writing Month. In the same month.

I’m more worried about Nanowrimo, because I’m going to find it so hard to not edit, and just write for once. But I think this next month is going to be so much fun, even if it’s a real challenge.
